Global’s Make Some Noise Day raises more than £3.5 million for charity

07 October 2017

On Friday 6th October the Global stations, including Communicorp UK’s eight stations across the UK, dedicated its programming to Make Some Noise with some very special guests, presenter challenges, reports from the project they’re supporting, and money can’t buy prizes, all to raise funds for the charity. Make Some Noise gives a voice and a lifeline to small projects and charities across the UK that help disadvantaged youngsters, but struggle to be heard. It gives them a platform to tell their story, helping young people who are living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity.

Mark Lee, CEO, Communicorp UK, said: “We are delighted to continue our support of Make Some Noise and are thrilled at the amount that has been raised. Using the power of radio to Make Some Noise for those who struggle to be heard allows this charity to award grants to specially selected projects across the country that are changing young lives.”

At Capital Scotland, presenter Amy faced her fears and held a live tarantula resulting in presenter Steven getting a tattoo on his foot. At Capital South Wales, presenter Polly won her first charity boxing match, taking a huge battering in the ring.

At Heart North Wales, presenter Lois faced her fear of tomatoes and took on the Tomato Challenge. At Heart Yorkshire, presenter Dixie raised cash by levitating in Meadowhall and White Rose Shopping Centre.

At Smooth East Midlands, with a genuine fear of heights, presenter Gareth was inspired to Make Some Noise by climbing iconic church spires across the East Midlands.

At XS Manchester, Manchester buskers joined the XS team in Manchester city centre for The XS Big Busk.
