There’s more to working in radio than you realise. Communicorp UK is your platform for you to perform, your canvas to create with the right level of autonomy to do what you do best.
Each of our stations at Communicorp UK have their own unique personality and culture. We believe that culture is worth of our attention all of the time so we recognise and celebrate the fact that our people make CCUK a Best Company.
At Communicorp UK, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and employees without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, gender expression and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
Communicorp UK believes that diversity and inclusion among our employees is important to our success and we seek to recruit, develop and retain talent from a diverse candidate pool. All employment decisions at Communicorp UK are based on business needs, job requirements and individual qualifications.
Since our launch, it has been our ambition to build an award-winning culture where we give everyone a say in the way we run our company. We’re all about engagement and use our We Do People Survey every six months to measure all aspects of their experience with us. We then use this insight to create fresh priorities that give our people what they need to be successful and happy. We couldn’t be prouder of the results…
UNDERSTAND AND BELIEVE OUR COMPANY VISION, MISSION, VALUES AND GOALS
OF OUR PEOPLE BELIEVE THEIR MANAGER GENUINELY CARES ABOUT THEIR WELLBEING
OF OUR PEOPLE WOULD RECOMMEND COMMUNICORP UK AS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK
We have developed our very own academies on leadership, sales, programming and marketing, creative and digital. The academy programmes are transformational in the way they engage and develop our people. All our content is bespoke to our company and our goal for our people is to be collaborative, progressive, creative and entrepreneurial in everything they aspire to do. Each programme has a clear structure for learning and development and is delivered to people in a variety of engaging ways.
We have invested heavily in our Learning Hub to create an online space where people can take control of their own learning with us. We have built a broad menu of options for people to choose from as well as enrolling them in the right courses for them, dependent on their role and goals.
We don’t believe in boring performance reviews. We believe in celebrating successes, learning from our misses and always pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones. We help our people agree individual business, career, learning and life goals for the year ahead. We call this a Personal Best Plan and everyone from the Chief Executive down has one to create clear direction and purpose throughout the year.
Each year, we invite our very best Account Managers and members of the Create Team to be considered for the next step in their career with us. Over the last five years, we have promoted over 30 successful candidates into senior roles within their teams, advancing their careers and fulfilling their ambitions.
Communicast is our learning podcast designed by us and produced by us, for us. Every day we use the power of audio to connect with our listeners so we applied the same thinking to engage our employees in the learning they need to achieve the results they want at work and in life. The idea is simple and effective – bitesize learning on the go, accessible at our convenience with some banging content from our own people.
Communicorp UK is investing in radio’s future talent through the Next Generation programme.
We are proud to partner with Nottingham Trent University in their Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship to offer our future leaders a unique chance to gain a prestigious qualification and fulfill their aspirations to become a leader later in their careers. Each of our NG Leaders has their own Mentor from our Executive Team to guide and support them over the four-year programme.
We have a longstanding partnership with the Student Radio Association so that we can stay connected to fresh talent in all the regions that we broadcast to. The Communicorp UK Next Generation programme offers all SRA members the chance to gain hands on experience at any of our stations to help them develop their radio skills. We love their energy, ideas and enthusiasm and our teams welcome them inside our stations regularly. We regularly attend talks at universities across the country inspiring students to grow their careers in radio.
During my time at XS I’ve been lucky enough to learn the many aspects of the station whilst on the job. Sophie and the team have trained and taught me so much whilst supporting me and giving me the opportunity to get fully involved leaving no questions unanswered.
I’m really enjoying my time here with the team and their laid-back approach makes for such a welcoming environment- I’m learning every week, so I can’t thank them enough for giving me the chance to get involved.
My Next Generation Day was genuinely one of the most amazing experiences that I have ever been invited on. I could see what a day in the life of a breakfast radio presenter is like, how early you must get up, but how rewarding that early start is and how much fun you have in the process. I was sceptical whether seeing behind the scenes of radio presenting would scare me away but, if anything, it only made me hungrier for the profession.
The Next Generation Leadership programme has already given me a completely new outlook on what it means to be a great leader. The first year was challenging and I know that as we immerse ourselves in year two, the topics will start to become more advanced and the workload will increase. However, we’re lucky to be working in an organisation that is open and supportive, giving us all the tools and experiences that we need to ensure that we get the very most out of our extra learning. I’m increasingly finding ways to implement my learning in my work, helping to grow me both professionally and personally.
Since beginning the programme, Tom has been successful in our Commercial Assessment Centre, stepping into a more senior role which enables him to implement his learning into his work every day.
Tom Williams, Head of Create, Yorkshire.
